With more teens and adults seeking treatment to correct their crooked teeth, Invisalign has become the preferred option over traditional braces. This modern orthodontic treatment uses clear, flexible plastic aligners to gradually straighten teeth. Unlike metal braces, which are fixed in place for the duration of your treatment, Invisalign trays can be removed when eating or brushing. This makes them less obvious and more comfortable, as well as allowing you to maintain an active lifestyle during your Invisalign treatment.
Before making your bespoke Invisalign trays, Dr Romani will devise a treatment plan based on digital three-dimensional images of your mouth. These allow him to see each individual tooth, view your jaw from different angles and foresee how your teeth will move as a result of your Invisalign treatment. This will help you decide if Invisalign is the best fit for your needs.
Why Choose Invisalign for a Straighter Smile
Invisalign can treat most cases of crowded or misaligned teeth. However, certain malocclusions are more difficult to treat with this system. Movements such as root paralleling, extrusion, correction of severe rotations, and closure of extraction spaces are more difficult to achieve with clear aligners.
During your Invisalign treatment, you’ll wear each set of clear trays for approximately one to two weeks. It’s important to wear them for 20 – 22 hours every day for the most efficient results, but they can be easily taken out when needed. You might notice that your speech sounds slightly different when you first start wearing them, but this should fade over the course of the first couple of weeks. You might also experience a mild discomfort in the first few days of wearing your new trays, which is due to the fact that they are occupying more space within your mouth than your tongue is used to.
